My first examination period in the UK is over and it was easier than I expected. Honestly, I was very happy with that. After exhausting weeks of nothing else apart from studying, I needed a break from Sheffield on the Saturday after my last exams. Thus, some friends of mine decided we should go on a daytrip to Cambridge, the famous university city. There are plenty of daytrips to different destinations organized by the Student’s Union. I really like these great and reasonably cheap opportunities and I think we should introduce something like that back home in Dresden. Cambridge is basically a very nice city with impressive university buildings. Nevertheless, I felt as I would be bored there after some time. The city makes a really old impression and not really like one of a young student city. Anyway, I enjoyed the day there a lot.
New Semester starts
Thanks to my friend Nick I knew a little where to go, although sadly we missed out on all the restaurants he recommended. We found them all, just not by the time we were hungry. Never mind, thanks a lot for the advice! Unlike in Germany there are no holidays after the examinations in the UK. This is not very nice, because I really did not feel like studying at all this Monday, but hey, I had to start again immediately. This semester appears to be much harder than the last one, although some of the subjects are (hopefully) really interesting. Due to the leaving of my friend Juan next week, we had to celebrate yesterday a little bit. Just a little, although I still have kind of a slight hangover and I wonder why.
Exciting News
And now listen up guys, it is time to become jealous! I have just booked my flights to Brazil and I will go there on 18.07. this year. I am already extremely excited, because it will be another great experience and the chance to meet my former roommates again. I will spend around six months in Minas Gerais where I will study for one semester at the Universidade Federal de Itajubá. I hope, I will find the time to prepare everything and still enjoy the World Cup. Apart from that, there is nothing new here in Sheffield. So, take care mates and see you soon.
